The wines of AustraliaFrom Australia we feature the range from De Bortoli and have sub~divided the rest of our Australian wine portfolio into specific districts reflecting the trend of the moment coming out of Australia wineries which is “regionality” Wines of Southern AustraliaThere's wines from the Clair Valley and the Adelaide Hills along with another couple of small producers from Southern Australia. Wines of the BarossaBarossa has an ideal climate for full bodied red wines and generally robust white wines. There are two basic soil types: brown, loamy sand to clay loam, and more sandy light brownish grey to dark grey brown soils. Grape varieties include Semillion, Chardonnay and Riesling in the whites and Cabernet, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Merlot in the reds not forgetting the very old Shiraz vines which date back to the very first days of Barossa settlement in the 1840s.
