De Bortoli Winery

We have been dealing with De Bortoli for several years and they have become a key supplier. We stock four distinct ranges starting with Sacred Hill, exclusive to independent merchants and not found in multiple grocers, they are perfect house wines and we personally recommend their quality over any similarly priced wine. The Vat range is are excellent examples of single grape varieties. We also list the Windy Peak range which are produced only from quality Victorian fruit. Top of the range are the world class Yarra Valley wines situated just outside Melbourne. Noble One, consistently voted one of the top dessert wines from Australia is a stunning example of Botrytis affected Semillon. Deep gold in colour with amazing concentration of flavour, this rich raisiny wine is of truly outstanding quality; the 2000 vintage carried away the award for top dessert wine 2003 at the IWC. The Black Noble is Noble One which has been treated to Solera style ageing, delicious as a digestif.

Sacred Hill, South Eastern Australia

Super value and always reliable we have used the Sacred Hill range as our upmarket Australian house wines with great success. The soft and fruity Semillon Chardonnay has an easy style, the Chardonnay has plenty of ripe fruit and complimentary oak and the Shiraz Cabernet is a succulent mid-weight red with a spicy character. The soft peachy sparkler has an appealling freshness that is difficult to put down!.

Deen de Bortoli, South Eastern Australia

Made from selected fruit these premium varietals have a stamp of quality. The lightly oaked Chardonnay is a delight

and the reds have both a familiar ring, but also a Petit Sirah, a rich red which is not so widely seen. The Vat 5 Botrytis Semillon has a delicious sweetness, not cloying but elegant and raisiny on the palate.

Windy Peak, Victoria

These excellent wines benefit from being grown at altitude leaving a certain elegance in their style. The addition of what is becoming the ubiquitous grape variety, Pinot Grigio, along with the Chardonnay possessing ripe fruit and delicate, balancing oak. The Pinot Noir has a supple feel and the Sangiovese, a warm, ripeness full of spice and leafy warmth.

Hunter Valley

The Semillon grape is one of Australia's loosely kept secrets. Similar to Chardonnay in style but more mellow on the finish, it is great with food because of its less agressive character.

Yarra Valley Winery, Victoria

Some truly outstanding examples of intense varietal character, De Bortoli's Yarra Valley vineyards yield some truly exceptional wines. Typically rich and full bodied all the wine from the rich oaky Chardonnay, through the spicy cedar laced Shiraz, the velvety Pinot and the robust hearty Cabernet show their true colours here.
