Bernard Chereau, Saint-Fiacre

Extensive vineyards give Bernard Chereau an enviable range of wines. The inimitable Muscadet is still unbeatable with seafood, try the Chateau de Chasseloir made from 100 year old vines. The Vaufuget is a lovely, slightly honeyed medium dry wine. His Le Clos wine is a delicious lightly oaked example, smooth rich and creamy, but with exceptional cleasing acidty and great balance.

With sons Louis and Simon in charge of growing and winemaking and daughters-in-law, Sylvie and Nadine running the administration this is a true family affair. Andrés wines are full and steely and chock full of gooseberry fruit. Old vines and low yields all add to the depth and quality of the wine.

Domaine Thibault, André Dezat et Fils, Verdigny

Originnally started some years ago, André bought his first 4.5 hectares near Tracy. Now at around 10 hectares, his vineyards produce outstanding wines. With great attention to detail, low yields and cold fermentation the wine is pure, mineral laced, with crisp dryness to finish.
