Domaine Michel Gros, Vosne Romanée

A terrific achievement for a small producer we are delighted to offer Michel’s wines for your enjoyment. Michel owns several small, but important vineyards in Burgundy. The Hautes Côtes de Nuits is a good example of generic Burgundy wine and the premier crus are sublime achievements in the wine makers art.

Domaine Tollot-Beaut, Chorey-les-Beaune

This excellent domaine is one of my favourites managing to capture the fragrant delicacy and the suggestion of underlying power really well.

Domaine René Bouvier, Gevrey-Chambertin

Bernard Bouvier farms 17 hectares around the extreme North of the Côte d’Or. Yields are very low and no chemical sprays are used, producing concentrated, intense and generous wines.

Louis Latour, Beaune

The highly regarded Corton Grancey domaine is a jewel in the crown from this outstanding negociant. Supplying consistant and generous wines, Latour has an enviable reputation in Burgundy.

Bernard Maume, Gevrey

Bernard Maume makes great wines. They are enjoyable even at this stage, but the dark, black fruit and finely boned tannins bode well for several years improvement in bottle.

Bernard Morey, Chassagne Montrachet

Bernard and sons make concentrated firm Burgundies benefitting from a little ageing with mineral, stony undertones. Very satisfying.

A huge expansive and classy Burgundy if you are prepared to buy cellar for a few years.

Fernand et Laurent Pillot, Chassagne-Montrachet

Domaine Dugat-Py

Tiny amounts of sublime, ageworthy Burgundy. A stellar property which does not produce anywhere enough wine for the demand.

Comte Armand, Pommard

This Clos, or walled vineyard, is in the sole ownership of the Comte, a very rare occurrence in Burgundy. This wine is complex and exotic, dark fruit and mocha are evident in the bouquet and this rich 2002 vintage has great ageing potential, with many layers of flavour about to be revealed.

Jean Grivot, Vosne Romanee

Etienne, son of Jean, now makes the wine here. Superb balance between finesse and power. Dark and brooding at the moment this will shed its tightness and muscle over the next few years and evolve into a charming and graceful glass of wine.

Domaine Ponsot, Morey Saint Denis

A domaine of the highest calibre, this premier cru is now beginning to develop well.

Remi Rollin, Pernand

A small 11 hectare domaine, offering a chance to drink fine well balanced and fragrant Pinot Noir without paying for one of the famous village names.

Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils, Beaune

Domaine Taupenot-Merme, Morey Saint Denis

With a history going back to the mid 18th century, this domaine has, sine 1998, been under the supervision of Romain Taupenot. His direction on pruning to reduce yields and the use of only their own compost to provide organic viticulture have paid dividends. Hand harvesting, rigourous selection and total de-stemming prior to fermentation give fine and generous wines with concentrated flavours. Couple this with 12 to 14 months in barrel and the wines show great depth and elegance.
