Marques de Vargas

The fourth generation of this family now run this impressive Bodega. Using only natural fertilizers and no herbicides or pesticides, the immaculate vineyards are hand tended to gain the optimum in quality.

The Reserva wine is grown on 26 year old vines, then aged for 23 months in American and Russian oak. The result is a powerful and complex wine with ripe fruit and dense structure.

Private Reserva is from older vines, hand picked and aged in new Russian oak barrels. Intense in colour with a pronounced nose and well intergrated tannins.

Along with the usual Tempranillo and Garnacha, the Hacienda wine has 40% Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. Aged in new French and Russian oak, the wine has earthy richness and a gamey, opulent character.

Bodegas del Medievo

Established as recently as 2001 this Bodega strives to produce vibrant, fruit driven wines. The Crianza wine has had 14 months in new barrels and 12 months in bottle prior to release. Ripe berry and spice aromas with good depth and generous finish.

The Reserva wine is hand harvested and aged for two years in barrel. Cedarwood hints and soft chocolatey undertones with finely balanced tannins and a delightful finish.

Their Rosado has soft raspberry aromas and a ripe, supple palate. Dry and fresh, this delicate fragrant wine is fruity and tangy

Biurko Gorri

A small family winery run by Ramon Llorens with the added advantage of being organically cultivated. Production is quite small but the wines are excellent soft and very drinkable.

La Rioja Alta

The La Rioja Alta wines have proved a great success and are amongst the finest of all Riojas. Alberdi has two years in barrel, Ardanza three and the 904 five making them succulent and powerful with sublime Rioja character.

Torre de Ona

The single estate Torre de Ona is owned by La Rioja Alta. At this estate they produce a more modern fruit driven example of Rioja, while still adhering to their traditional roots.

Marques de Murrieta

Murrieta gives us this dense full flavoured white Rioja. Distinguished by the fact that it is aged for 22 months in barrel its depth and complexity are both unique and surprising.

Vina Izadi

Gonzalo Anton and son Lalo produce riper, softer and fuller Rioja. The first wine we have selected is the 2001 Reserva, a blend of 73% Tempranillo with 15'% Graciano and 12% Garnacha. Is is a complex multi-layered wine.
